ABOUT THE LEAGUE

The Mahila Premier League (MPL) is Kathmandu’s first ever women’s futsal league. Now in its second season, the MPL attracts Kathmandu's top futsal teams and showcases a high-level of play. Over the course of eight weeks, eight teams will compete for the title of Kathmandu's best women's futsal team! While MPL games are fierce in competition, the league also strives to create a culture of camaraderie and collaboration in Nepali women's futsal. The MPL is an opportunity for women to come together and share their athletic skills and talents.

ABOUT THE WE UNITED PROJECT

The WE United Project presents the Mahila Premier League, a fully women-run initiative: played by women, organized by women and refereed by women. The WE United Project was founded in 2014 with a mission to empower women and girls in Nepal by creating safe spaces to impart leadership training, life skills development, and team building through dynamic sport-based activities.

The WE United Project is founded on the belief that sport enables women and girls to develop social networks, physical strength, self-belief, and the confidence to fully participate in any sphere of life they choose. Based on Women Win’s “Three As” theory of change, The WE United Project uses physical activity as an empowering tool to build assets, provide access to resources, and develop agency. For more information on The WE United Project, please visit www.theWEunitedproject.com or follow WE United on Facebook.
